- Five years after the brutal murder of his daughter Missy, Mack Philips receives a suspicious note inviting him back to the shack where she was murdered. Against his judgment he returns and finds himself in the presence of God, where he can ask questions of Him, especially the question of where is God in a world filled with suffering.
